Who lays down your favourite modern jazz guitar tone? Post a video of it here!
Now, I've got nothing against old-school tone, but this isn't the thread for it.
Go!

Tele pickup with a slight touch of delay, reverb, then add a touch of very, very light breakup on solos. Basically, it's my current setup, I play more contemporary jazz harmonies, secundal etc.

Lol, me too Guy.
Jakob Bro comes to mind...Frisell-ish, but more "pure."

John Scofield and Pat Metheny "I Can See Your House From Here"
Kurt Rosenwinkel "The Next Step"

Also, I love Stuart McCallum's soundscapes:

Wayne Krantz

Reinier Baas, he plays an Es-339 exclusively. Very little acoustic properties to his sound, but it's lovely. Really bright and articulate, but not jangly.
-
Funny, pretty much people's favorites are solidbody tones with tons of digital effects and we're all obsessing about small nuances of archtop tones plugged directly into an amp all day long
-
But the OP said 'no old school tone allowed' or something to that effect. So archtops with no effects are out presumably.

Even Old School wasn't a single sound but I'd say most associated the dark thumpy flat wound sound. Me I like the earlier sound of P90's with CC, Burrell, early Wes, Green, and others.

his playing on Ambrose akinmusire's latest was my intro to him. It was one of those "quick, grab the liner notes and find out who THAT is" moments.

the most beautiful guitar tone for my ears:
a pure p90 tone:
sounds so much better live than his cd's, lucky enough to see/hear him twice at Bar Next Door unforgettable experience:

Martijn van Iterson, great player, old style tone, but modern style playing.
-
bill frisell.
kurt R has jumped the shark a little with his tone excursions in the last couple of years (octave stuff, attack eliminator etc)
oh, and OT- but Jim Hall using octave stuff and chorus in the 90's sucked for me.
-
What a boring world it would be if everyone was chasing the same tone.
