Who are/were the great guitar sidemen of jazz?

I'm totally digging Jim Hall's work right now onSonny Rollins' The Bridge. In fact I love the interview with Sonny from back then when they ask him why he didn't have a piano player in that band for either the album or the shows that followed, and he said "Beacause I have Jim Hall. You don't need a piano player when you have Jim Hall."

Colin Oxley's work with Stacy Kent made him one of my favorites. Though some could question whether it's truly jazz, I thought her pre Blue Note band was wonderful.
