Possibly not the right forum but thought I would share the news that Paco de Lucia has died. He was much too young.

Very Sad, RIP

This is very sad news. Paco was one of the most amazing musicians ever. I was very fortunate to have seen him play live a number of times. He was a genius.

Don't worry, he'll live forever, possibly in the same league of greats as Django.... RIP.
-
Very sad news, just an incredible talent.
-
Ouch. A year younger than me. I quite enjoyed his performances with McLaughlin and Coryell.
-
I am sad...his music is so energy...that is a power!
-
Vale, Paco!
-
Truly a peerless guitar player, and way too young. What a bummer.
-
Very Sad!

One of the greatest musicians in the history of the guitar, without question. He will be missed.
-
Paco was one of those rare few who you got the impression from that they could do anything they wanted to do on the guitar.
RIP indeed, a true great.
-
God bless Paco...unfortunately, he smoked cigarettes like they were going out of style. I always liked the way he used to play a real fast run or arpeggio and make McLaughlin grin. RIP Paco.
-
I remember always liking other guitarists better for this specific reason or that specific reason. But I don't recall ever thinking that any of them could compete with Paco in terms of overall completeness.
(Note that these are memories not bold assertions.)
-
If you don't mind, please share a couple of your favorite songs that he did. That would help ease the pain. Thanks!

Way too young. That's so sad. A great musician lost.

I saw him once in the early 80's - an incomparable player, undoubtedly one of the best finger-style guitarists who has ever lived. I'm sad to say, I can't recall if it was solo or as part of the trio with McLaughlin and Dimeola...
I actually heard of him before the trio, as he performed in a flamenco version of Carmen on film that I saw about 35 years ago. No one has done more to bring the nylon string guitar into the modern era than Paco de Lucia.

yeah, the classic cig smokin' guitar man.

I saw Paco in small room 15 years ago before concert in Poland.I remeber he smoked a lot of cigarettes...too much...:-(

I thought really to see him, one day.
I had tickets for one of his concert, but this day was the birth of my daughter.
So, I missed him.
Too young to die.
