I was at GIT from Sept '83 till March '85. (I sat out six months in the middle to work and woodshed.)

And yeah, I DO remember seeing Howard with that brown Fusion with the original stop tailpiece design! I probably saw it it around the school, or maybe at an HR gig at Donte's. Luscious dark brown burst!

I have also posted on You Tube of him playing live with Pete Jolly from the 1980's.many videos..... He is playing one of his Fusion guitars.... Ken

Man, you have no idea what it's like for me and others my age to finally see him play ! In the '60's you had all you could do sometimes to even get hold of the records. And if you didn't live on either coast, forget it, you'd never hear guys like this play. For another example check out how many YT vid's exist of Johnny Smith -- what is it maybe 2 ?

Bottom line - my point is - count your blessings folks that there's a YT and that people like Ken could and did upload these vids.

    Thanks a million Ken !

From another HR fan who's grateful for your efforts !

Dennis.. Many thanks.. I asked pat Hicks for the DVD and then made maybe 6 videos or tunes from that ... .... Also hoping to find more soon Ken One of my best friends was Johnny Smith's prized student at 14 years old when Johnny took Bobby Montoya to the Benny Goodman award and won..... So I had known Johnny from when I was 19 years old. I got to talk to him about a month before he died.

Joe Diorio had a stroke maybe 8 or 10 years ago and it slowed him down but he was tough and kept playing .. He loves to write music so that is a huge blessing for him to do...
I met Bucky many years ago and he was a very kind person... Wished I would have asked him about HR but didn't realize they were buddies.

Saw HR at Dontes a couple times and before GIT started I went to one of HR Seminars they did in hotels. I went to GIT twice 1980 and 1991 second a free ride thanks to Pat Hicks. HR was a great guitarist, teacher, and a Renaissance Man type of thinker.

Yes Ken, I saw that yesterday ! Wow !

I like how it starts with him ' rolling up his sleeve '.

And aside from the obvious treat of seeing and hearing of him play, there always seemed to be that grin of his.
Like he was always up to something and while it wouldn't be mean, it was going to really funny, and I just think of how it would've been a kick once or twice to be in on the 'joke'.

    Thanks again !
