Here's another two bit guitarist of whom someone may not have heard. I think he does a bit of country!

All these tributes to Miles are just advertising tricks.
The biggest musical feast was when Miles appeared.
I listened to almost all tributtes to Miles and I always missed something.... maybe the ghost of Miles.
In Miles' environment, the musicians played differently and I can't say that they played better... just different.

I think John McLaughlin's + Chick Corea's album Five Peace Band is sort of meant as a tribute to Miles - the second disk more than the first. It's an incredible album, anyway, IMO.

Mind you, I don't understand it. Miles Smiles is the album with Footprints and all that. Jean Pierre is on a different album.
Miles Smiles was the name of the tribute concert and this was just one of the songs played there.

I saw a Miles tribute at the Blue Note… must’ve been weeks right after Mike Stern‘s accident… the late Wallace Roney was on trumpet then too…what a show!

    • The Lineup:
      • Chick Corea: Piano
      • Wallace Roney: Trumpet
      • Kenny Garrett: Saxophone
      • Mike Stern: Electric Guitar
      • Marcus Miller: Electric Bass
      • Brian Blade: Drums

Tbh I think playing something worthwhile on a tune like All Blues may actually be the final boss of jazz.
