Christian should know by now not to let twenty years of professional experience get in the way of that thing that guy on the Internet says.

Don’t know how he’s going to get up tomorrow morning and keep playing.

It's never a problem, really....whether you use 4 or 3 fingers is quite easy to accommodate....it's the RH that's the heart of the Classical Technique and in fact it's the RH that's the most difficult to train generally - in any style.
Fortunately, you're totally wrong about Left Hand technique, with your statement "It's never a problem, really".
Master Classical Guitarist Julian Bream speaks the truth about Left Hand Technique in this video below.

Sorry jazzyfan, but I have to totally ignore and be dismissive about your ideas about Left Hand technique. Listen to the Master Classical Guitarist Julian Bream's words of wisdom.

I still remember my guitar tutor (a conservatoire trained musician) declaring Bream to be a "sloppy player", he much preferred John Williams.

Is this that same clown who called anyone who plays with a plectrum a "hillbilly" and insisted that it was easy to play Art Tatum lines at speed using classical technique, and then posted some grainy 4 second cellphone video demonstration that sounded absolutely terrible and insisted that everyone else was wrong, it was perfectly clean and better than anything Pasquale Grasso had ever played?

I might be thinking of someone else, but you can see how it'd be an easy mistake to make.

    That definitely wasn't me.
I still do think that the good old classic technique is, in fact, the best that there is for any type of guit playing....I don't use it myself, sadly.
If I could go back, I would learn that technique in a heartbeat.

    Interesting thought experiment:

I wonder how many mature-age pros - who have been at it for years - would choose to rewind history and learn the classic technique from the start?
