Just for fun - If Julian Lage was going to do a Guitar & Piano Duo album (Like Jim Hall & Bill Evans) - who would be your ideal pianist?

Or if you wouldn't pick Julian Lage - who would be your ideal Guitar / Duo Pairing of living musicians?

    Yes, this.

Although Julian Lage and Brad Mehldau wouldn't be too shabby either.

I'd love to hear Isaiah J. Thompson with one of the younger guys who really focuses on straight-ahead sounds like Olli Soikkeli, or even Pasquale

Julian's playing has changed so much since this.

I would love to hear a Mehldau/Lage duo.

Norah Jones. And I base my opinions on 2 things:

I'd rather hear SONGS (with vocals) than strictly jazz instrumentals.

The recent visit he did on Norah Jones' podcast was really cool. She put lyrics to one of his songs

Julian stopped by @norahjones's "Playing Along" podcast to play a few songs and chat! - YouTube

At the moment, I think I'd have to go with Sullivan Fortner. I'd be even more excited to hear him in duo with Peter Bernstein—which apparently happened a decade ago, though I'm not able to make the video here work: Peter Bernstein & Sullivan Fortner Duo - SmallsLIVE
