Interesting responses... I had no idea Bonamassa can be so polarizing based on how much ppl seem to love him on YT. I was simply curious how you guys feel about his music, cuz when I saw a few of his YT vids demoing gear and tone, he sounded pretty cool so that's what got me interested in trying his music. But when I did listen to it, it left me cold. The guy can play - there's no denying that and I wouldn't necessarily skip the track if it comes up in an album radio playlist - but it doesn't get me lost in the moment. I feel more emotion out of Kingfish or Eric Gales or Samantha Fish or, unfair as it is, out of ol' Buddy Guy.

I mean, time and taste in general kinda forces you to choose sides, unless your playlist is heavily weighted w high-ish octane modern blues guitar. But given this is a jazz forum, I’m probably not the only one with a limited appetite for this genre.

I definitely appreciate him for a lot for his exquisite tone, guitar centered endeavors and his business model. There’s no hate here.

IMO anyone who can stand up there with Oz is far beyond reproach from the likes of me. Joe's genre isn't something I listen to at all, if I do listen to bluesey stuff it's along the lines of Robben Ford, but I have a lot of respect for his talent and his dedication to the history of the instrument. I do think it's cool to see him expand to a performance like this though.
