Back in 1996, I produced The Humbler cd with Norma Gatton. It was a straight-ahead rockabilly record with Robert Gordon, Shannon Ford, Tony Garnier, and Lance Quinn.
29 years later (!!) I just released the first "new" Gatton record in nearly 2 decades, Live at the Holiday Inn 1987, on my label, Gress Records. I had studio engineering genius, Greg Lukens, remaster the recording and it sounds amazing. Gatton is joined by a crack band of John Previti on bass, Chris Battistone on trumpet, and the great Barry Hart on drums.
Danny and his band, Funhouse, rip through 9 classic jazz standards (Danny called them "standard standards") as well as an improv jam, Blues Jam in F Minor, and the Gatton masterpiece, One For Lenny. 11 tracks in total.
I will be releasing a "Volume 1" vinyl version in mid-January which will have 2 bonus tracks that were cut from the cd due to time constraints.
One of the things that make this record unique is that it's the only Gatton record that exclusively features his iconic '54 ES 295, which I now own share frequently with guitar-playing Danny fans such as Albert Lee, Pat Metheny, Sonny Landreth, GE Smith, Al DiMeola, Redd Volkaert, James Oliver, Daniel Donato, Arlen Roth, Eddie 9 Volt, and tons of other great players.

The Humbler cd truly lives up to its name......you will walk away humbled after hearing it!
-
Thank you for releasing The Humbler. I absolutely love that album.

It was one of the greatest honors of my life to release The Humbler. I'm as biased as could be, but I think it's the greatest rockabilly record ever made.
-
Can I ask what’s stopping you from putting it on the digital streamers? If you don’t want to go into it that’s fine. I just wonder why some out of print stuff isn’t there and you have one of those.
-
It's pretty simple...I've spent a lot of money to put this record out. I'd like to make it back and hopefully even turn a profit. Streaming doesn't pay anything and it makes no financial sense to give away the music for free. I released two songs on the streaming platforms so people can get a taste - if they like what they hear, they can buy the cd/download or vinyl.
-
Hi...
Does the download have those 2 bonus tracks that were cut from the cd? As much as I would prefer a physical copy ,the shipping rates to Canada put the cd at almost $72.00 !Last edited by gusgtr; 10-15-2025 at 09:08 PM.

Been hooked ever since hearing his version of Harlem Nocturne. What a player. What a loss.
-
Oh, I was talking about Humbler. Not the new one. I get why the new one isn’t on streamers.

Unfortunately not. The vinyl is a limited edition, numbered release and contains the bonus tracks.
-
I don’t see the humbler available on your site. Is there a way of purchasing it?
-
it’s out of print

Huge fan of Danny , Relentless with Joey DeFrancesco is a masterpiece.
-
Absolute masterpiece. NY Stories is a desert island record. My new "Holiday Inn" release is also a mind-blower. And lets not forget Redneck Jazz Explosion...

It's hard work to develop your talent, but the toughest thing to be, as an artist (of any kind), is unique...Danny certainly was that. Dig (dug) him a lot!
