I just learned that a company called Gress Records is releasing Danny Gatton's Live at the Holiday Inn 1987 in various formats. Videos of this set have been on YouTube for a while, but they were able to hire "seasoned mastering engineer Greg Lukens" to clean up the sound.

Good to hear from you, John.
I mentioned that I was listening to Gatton a lot to a friend of mine who never heard of him, so I sent him a link to the Holiday Inn gig on YT.
Since my friend is a jazz purist, I figured the archtop and the group he was playing with, plus the tunes they played would make him seem more acceptable to the guy.
His reply was that DG was walking on the shores of jazz just getting his feet wet, but had yet to enter the ocean of Bird and Bud. lol!

I don't remember if you read my post on the arranger/composer Tom Talbert, and the work he did with Galbraith and Smith, but check it out;it's on YT.

Live at the Holiday Inn is sensational and Danny is inspired and on fire throughout.
Reviews have been universally glowing with Vintage Guitar Magazine calling the new album, "Simply unreal".

Downbeat Magazine just gave in 4.5 stars and called Gatton "one of the greatest straight ahead jazz guitarists of our time".

The UK Jazz Journal gushed, "This is one of the few recordings on which Gatton demonstrates that if he had played jazz exclusively, he could easily have ranked alongside the all-time greats - Charlie Christian, Django Reinhardt, and Wes Montgomery. But to the cognoscenti that is already the case"
