I have listened to this ages ago but return to check it out. I am guessing many have heard this here but maybe not the younger guys or the true fanatics. Thie recordning of Billy Bean and John Pisano to me is like the height of great jazz lines. They are woven together in a way that simply swings and has meaning to me. I marvel at the sound the easy they manage. This gets no press of any but let me tell you it is great.

For sure, that album and just about any of Bean's playing is killer. I love this bootleg/amateur recording of Straight No Chaser:

That west coast sessions CD is great, I’ve got it. I started transcribing his solo on Airegin, I must finish it sometime!
I also got the book (e-book version) by Seth Greenberg about Billy Bean, very interesting, lots of info. about him. Apparently he was a total recluse by then, but somehow the author managed to meet him and subsequently interview him by phone.
