The details are in the enclosed CBridge link, as informational, not soliciting, according to Jill ( Mrs G. ). Jack is in a Racine Wis. hospital after suffering 2 strokes last week. He'd previously taken a fall and had flu etc symptoms. He's already progressing and doing better since he was transferred from one of those dark single bed hospital rooms.
So, if you will, please keep them both in your thoughts and prayers. You know, just asking for two of the good guys.

    Many thanks.

That’s a shame. Great player and presumably great teacher. My old guitar teacher used to subject me to Monster Chops on a regular basis.

    Whew.

    Wishing him well.

Yeah, Monster Chops is a very cool book. Very few guitar books explicitly dealing with Eric Dolphy like material. Very tough stuff if you do it like he wanted you to (strictly in position with one finger per fret). But I never actually did it like that (shhh).

I've always been curious about his series of books about combining walking bass lines with chords. Maybe I'll finally bite the bullet and get them -- he probably could use the money.

I remember years ago him putting something out about his studies with Tal Farlow?

Best wishes for his recovery and future!

There are a few interviews I just found on a search. I know the two of them had done a cd too.

Actually, it's becoming clearer in my fuzzy memory. Jack Grassel released an album of recordings he made playing with Tal Farlow entitled "Two Guys With Guitars." I have it somewhere around the house but haven't listened to it in probably at least 10 years.

Man, he's been through some terrible things. Years ago, I remember that he was trying to fix the plumbing in his sink, and he contracted a life-threatening disease.
Now he's taken a fall, suffered some flu symptoms and survived two strokes.
    Sending prayers his way.
