Two more fine examples of acoustic jazz guitar: one, the recordings of the group 'Cats And The Fiddle', from the late '30's/early '40's, where the tenor guitar player(playing, I think, an early Harmony-made, Armstrong-branded archtop), and two, an early 1960s Riverside recording of the Louis Cottrell Trio, which features the superb acoustic guitar of Emanuel 'Manny' Sayles. Sayles plays, I think, a Martin 000-18...but, close your eyes, it could be an archtop...Sayles was in a 1940s group, The Chocolate Music Bars, with violinist John Creech(later known as 'Papa', with Hot Tuna): the one photo of the CMB trio which I found, shows Sayles with a big Stromberg(I think), but sadly, I haven't yet found any recordings by them.

The Cats And The Fiddle recordings also feature astonishingly good hot guitar(and tipple!)playing(as well as delightful vocal harmonies).
