I wonder what year this was? The show's beginning looks like the 60's?

The host, Bill "Hoss" Allen, was a Nashville DJ, but the shows were filmed in Dallas. Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown was in the house band, along with David "Fathead" Newman.
Lots of great episodes. Great Freddie King stuff, and Chuck Berry, and the list goes on and on.

    Louis Jordan was great.
BB King did a lot of his songs.

I'm a little surprised Jordan was still getting booked, with the same (old) catalog, by the mid-60s.

A key ingredient of "The Beat" is that it was shot in color.
This episode features Otis Redding, The Bar Kays, Percy Sledge, and Sam & Dave.
