I just received the Randy Vincent Drop 2 book and it's a little over my head. Also the chord diagrams are too small for me to read comfortably. Fortunately I can return it. That aside, is there a resource for drop 2 that's a little more basic? For example, D2 inversions to rhythm changes, jazz blues and the like. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Yes arranging books. Do you understand the concepts of drop2 or drop 3 etc. They're arranging terms that have become adapted for guitar teachers....

Personally drop voicings are just learning methods for learning the fretboard. Most just don't really get past them etc... But if you don't know them, you need to get it together LOL.

This one is a good starting book; don't know the diagrams are big enough. You can use the look inside feature on Amazon

A book that I found useful is Chords Galore by Jack Petersen. Link below

Bud.... the forum stuff is free and already adjusted for guitar. It's great start

Later... if you keep going and start to learn how to comp, you'll probably dump most of those voicings and drop 2, 3 etc... and start to thinking in terms of.... lead lines and the types of intervals you want to support that lead line
Lead lines are like melody licks that imply and support different styles and common chord patterns.

But you do need to go through the process of learning the fretboard and how to play any chord anywhere with any note on top. The lowest note comes into play as well as in inter voices when you want them to.
