The harmonic structure of Blue Bossa is not that of a bossa- just compare with songs by Brazilian bossa artists. It is a blues in minor C with a bossa feel (hence the title).
Bossas are mostly intended to be sung with accompaniment, basically sophisticated folk songs using jazz harmonic ideas, but their fundamental roots are in choro, samba, etc., rather than Broadway show tunes or American blues.
And good grief, what wonderful music! I love playing and listening to bossas. FWIW Netflix has a documentary on the birth and development of bossa nova that's quite interesting.Last edited by Cunamara; 10-20-2017 at 12:47 AM.

On the other hand, the harmony of Mr Coltrane's After The Rain appears to have been influenced by Brazilian folk music - and his Ogunde by Francisco Ernani Braga's Ogunde Varere.
Nothing comes from nothing - and stuff crosses borders all the time.Last edited by destinytot; 10-20-2017 at 06:47 AM.
