Here is my take on bars 1-24. I recorded this right before I hopped on a plane for a family vacation. I am able to check the thread every couple of days. I am enjoying all of your postings. Regards, Joe

I tried another shot at mm. 1-24 today, using both the ES165 and the L5ces. I'm also still struggling a bit using the Hal Leonard "Real Book" backing track, which uses a very definitely "slippery" bossa nova time feel. But I feel I am making progress!
For those who like this stuff, the guitar is played through a Polytone Minibrute II (12" speaker) mic'd with a Bluebird microphone, into a PreSonus Audiobox iTwo. The backing track is actually going through my DV Mark micro 50 (so I can hear it!) with the XLR line going to the Audiobox iTwo. USB out of the Audiobox into the lightning port of my iPhone for recording.

Here is my bars 1-24. Probably should have given it another day, but I'm satisfied. This will get solidified even more as I work on the second half of the tune.

Here is my take on bars 1-24.
I changed a few of Conti's fingerings to fit my eye and fingers
It is played at 103 bpm with the irealbook backing tracks

Both in the Raney group and in this group, the solo I'm working on is a constant mental sound-track to my day. I end up humming it, whistling it, thinking about it, "air" playing it... it's like it becomes an obsession! I move forward to the next sections mainly because I get bored having to stop in "mid air" in my head!

I hope it is still okay to join. Learned this solo before i'll try to cope up with the August 29 deadline. Thanks

We do still have group people who are working really hard just to keep up with the current pace. Hope you'll be considerate of them. We do all enjoy celebrating finishing together.

I love these study groups, but I have to say chastising me for finishing on Wednesday of the week before seems unnecessary and a bit hypocritical. You yourself raced ahead doing 24 bars in two weeks.

Sorry for that. I"m not the school marm. I apologize for anything that seemed a scolding. Not intended. I also see your point, I've been inconsistent about my own pace, sometimes getting ahead.

Bars 1-40
Guitar: Conti Equity Model
Since it has been almost a week since I posted Bars 1-32, I'm going to go ahead and post this last one. Sorry for the zinger at 1:16. This was one of a few takes so I am going to go with it.

rlrhett, good job on this one. Don't worry about the flubs. It happens and I sure have made my share of them. We're all learning a lot from the group. I just hope I'm retaining the lines from previous projects for future use.

So I guess I'll post my mm. 1-40 as well. Experimenting with 2 guitars, an ES165 and an L5ces.

For this solo, I liked the first video best. Such a lovely warm tone. Really nice, and a nice touch by the instrumentalist. Not just the instrument.

Well played rlrhett! I didn't hear any "flubs" only "personal stylings".

Hi All,
I hope to have my video for bars 1-40 posted this weekend. You have all set the bar very high (as usual)!

I'm looking forward to it! Thinking about doing one with the tune itself then the solo, just to pretend to be a Real Jazz Player...
