It was 30 years ago but from what I remember, for bop in F he would play the F dom major pent over F7 and fm pent over the Bb7 and bm7 then play the II min pent over any II V I . I've heard Herb Ellis do this type of thing . He had more but that's all I can remember. When I do this I end up sliding into mixolydian with the major Dom pent and Dorian with the minor.

Jerry Bergonzi and Bobby Stern, using a lot of Bergonzi's concepts have both spent a lot of time laying this stuff out. It may create more of an outside thing than you are looking for, but, in my opinion, is worth a look.
