Upper (ex)tensions - how do you treat them in solos?

using all tones in all octaves..

a chromatic run eighth notes--6th fret high E string: Bb A (Ab octave lower) (G octave higher) (Gb octave lower) (F E octave higher) resolve to E7#9 (B on top) then..Db(starting on C) dim scale to C7#9..G on top..repeat all..end on A7#9 C on top..B-note-Played as an octave..twice in 16th notes--E7#9-G on top - end

I looked over all answers and found that my reference to the Ed Saindons article was, perhaps the most practical and useable answer to my question.
If anyone has similar practical online materials to mention - please do.
