I thought that part... "Technique for the style(s)" pretty much covered it all. (all techniques) Alternating picking is simply the starting point... as I've always said and still say... different fingerings and picking create different accent patterns, (grooves), articulations and phrasing.
Not trying to be argumentative... sorry if I'm coming off that way... I agree with your comments, simply trying to cover all the details.
