Hey guys I am testing out a few guitars tomorrow and was wondering if you guys know of any good easy jazz melodies that I could learn and use for testing them. I am learning autumn leaves but would like something simpler. Preferably written in music but tabs are ok too.

Lush Life.

One Note Samba

Summertime, Blue Bossa and Bag's Groove are all easy melodies you could learn in a day.
-
"Moonglow". The song from the mov9ie "Picnic." It's about as easy as I've seen.
-
John Cage's 4' 33 . It's classical but there might be a guitar transcription, possibly in Tab. Not too difficult.
or maybe Saint Thomas by Sonny Rollins.
I'm an Old Cowhand also done by Sonny Rollins, all in one key, now fancy changes.

I was thinking the exact opposite. What a great incentive for learning a new tune: Learn a tune, get a guitar. Man, I'd buy every real book ever published including 1001 wedding polkas if I could get a new guitar with each tune learned!

Straight no chaser sits under the fingers pretty cleanly...
Solar isn't too tough...
Here's that rainy day is a good one...so is all of me...blue bossa...
You got a realbook? Flip through and grab something without too much syncopation and you'll be reading thru it quick enough...

What key is the Cage tune in?

I'd say it's a piece most guitarists would find it impossible to play without the music. But then again, how do you get a guitarist to stop playing? Put the music in front of him.

I did a chord melody version of Cage a while back; here's the first few bars. PM if you want the whole transcription (please excuse any errors, I'm quite a beginner...)...
