Just a thought... if we were talking about Harmony and wanted to describe harmony using linear technique... wouldn't linear harmony be fitting and if we were discussing melodic lines or lines and wanted to use harmony as technique.... harmonic lines as kevin mentioned... I kind of like them both in their own place...

Wow, hold your horses Reg; what are you talking about?I don't think
That even you understood what you just said....it makes no sence. Is perhaps linear harmony described any different than melodic lines????? As far as I know
They ate written the same way and they both have to be harmonic. Some times enharmonic but all inside the same patter of notes, progression, scales.
Understand?
U think about that.
Cheers .
Hudson.

I'm diggin' it so far but I need all the help I can get! Until I see someone I respect knocking Ligon's approach I'll continue to work through it.

I'm not knocking the approach (actually, I recommend it) - I'm just quibbling about the terminology and the apotheosis.
Peace,

If you learn and practice the chromatic scale in all keys vertically, horizontally, and diagonally, it will cover all the other scales included in the 12 tone system. One scale for eveything. It's so simple even a caveman can do it.

It's so stupid even a caveman would sound lost.
