Just making it up as they go along is what those jazz guys do.

And not one single secondary dominant harmed the entire time!

Just making it up? You sure you didn't have any non-theoretical discussions on how to organize any of this? One thing that amazes me is how you guys sync rhythmically, what with the pauses and the rubato and all. This is some high level noodling.

I think you're my favourite duo. I'm serious!

many thanks. We don’t talk about any of it. Not a word. We exchange a few pleasantries and then begin just as it’s heard here. Sometimes we sit in silence for a bit, maybe 30 seconds or so waiting for the other to start something, but I like it best when we start together. To me it seems like we’re developing a language and using listening skills. Above all, trust in the process that lets anything goes.

Thanks Mark. That's what I thought. You guys have something special.

BTW: I dig the flub-note/ded-note thing that shows up around 4 mins or so. I think you might should go into that some more.

I've heard you with Matt before, but I don't think it was this session. He fits so well. He seems to draw out the 'jazz' in you guys.

So did I read that you'd had a couple of 'virtual jams' in The Days of the Bug, and this was your first in person? That's quite remarkable. Sounds to me like you've been playing together for years. Great find.

I'm happy you have such like minded folks to play music with. In fact... I'm quite jealous :)

I like your solo stuff a lot, but I'm most tickled by your ensembles. I love the interplay.

Many thanks for your support and encouragement! You may be one of minority who enjoys breaking from the traditional sounds and styles of jazz guitar. That said, breaking tradition actually IS the tradition

I only listened for a minute or two but was surprised how you're both playing with eyes closed. Then I remembered how the director of a student orchestra I was in made us work on starting as one with our eyes closed....

But (why) is this jazz rather than some other kind of avant-garde music?

Kind of curious to see a cello playing pizzicato bass (maybe curious only because I was expecting him to do something more with the instrument's versatility in this setting) but it did give me an idea

Dude... if you ever need a quick $10, put a CD up on BandCamp :-) You can count on at least one buyer!

There many more minutes where various cello things unfold.
