With an interested pianist, you can agree to try to create one clear comp out of two instruments. Easier on groove based music.
Probably easiest to try during a bass solo on a slower tune. One method: agree that one instrument takes the first part of each bar (or two bars) and the other takes the latter portion. Sparse is a lot easier than busy.

Absolutely agree, Christian Miller! Understanding the roots and original intent of a piece can deepen appreciation. It's like knowing the language before writing poetry. And some tunes, like those from Billy Strayhorn, indeed deserve that classical reverence. ?? #MusicalWisdom
