    Greetings to all,

Ive been reading this forum and especially the portion on books people find helpful. However, I need to really zero in on fundamentals.
Im returning to playing after being away from any real studdy for 30 years and Ive forgotten a lot and even so, there were always a lot of holes in my knowledge base.

I can read (not great sight reading but its not a big problem that practice wont fix.)
I generally understand how to build chords and how they are structured....but not great.

Im looking for a good book I can work through bit by bit so that picking out chord melodies is not so slow and arduous...and sometimes based on chance.
I realize I need to get basic things put back into memory that are long gone but I know if I approach this on my own I will leave things out and/or do them in an order that doesnt make a lot of sense.

It would be nice if its geared specifically towards guitar and jazz though I know when it comes to pure theory music is music.

Ive no delusion that I will become a great or even good jazz player but Id like to have some idea as to what I am doing.
I think I would enjoy it more once the work was done.

I look at some things online but many of them quickly reveal my lack of understanding in various areas.
Basically, I need something that starts from basics and works forward. Otherwise, these holes of different proportions will hold me back later.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

I had a great teacher ages ago...when I was young and lived in the US. I now live in France and my French is terrible. Im also in a smaller town/large village so its not very practical.

    But that is excellent advice.

Most teachers will provide lessons using Web Cam?

I saw a video where Berry Greene recommended getting the real book and adding 3 notes under each long note and using that to harmonize the chords. Inverting as necessary to find a playable grip. Hint: It’s probably the drop-2s.

We had a chord melody study group going, using one of Jeff Arnold's book, I'd be open to starting it back up:
Stella by Starlight - Jeff Arnold Ballads, Song #5

I would like to take part in a chord melody group if you can start it back up again
