Science Confirms Turmeric As Effective As 14 Drugs | GreenMedInfo

My personal experience is that it works as well as any NSAIDs for me for strains/arthritis, usually within an hour or less, and that was before the idea that fats would make it more bioavailable.
I don't know. I just can't believe that stuff like this can be real. It's apparently heavily documented. It's just beyond comprehension that all of that scientific data could be legitimate, and yet there's no official stance on something like daily recommendations to combat specific health problems.

Again, what kind of world do we live in where I can speak "recommended dosage for benadryl" into my smart phone and get an immediate answer for a product that will make me legally intoxicated beyond the ability to operate a motor vehicle? Meanwhile, there's nothing equivalent to that ease of information for ancient, "open source", "public" food products? And it's illegal for anyone other than the government to make any recommendation about it.

If there's even a remote possibility that eating certain foods (or more of them) could help with treating specific illness or health issues, why does our "Food" agency make it so difficult to say anything about their health benefits? Why aren't they leading the way in turning results from studies and expert's opinions into any kind of recommendation? Who wouldn't rather use food to treat illness if they knew that it could possibly preempt having to take pharmaceuticals in the first place? And how is it not a conflict of interest that the majority of the FDA's funding comes, not from the federal reserve, but directly from the drug industry?

    From Wikipedia:

    ******************************
    Scope and funding

The FDA's federal budget request for fiscal year (FY) 2012 totaled $4.36 billion,[3] while the proposed 2014 budget is $4.7 billion.[11] About $2 billion of this budget is generated by user fees. Pharmaceutical firms pay the majority of these fees,[11] which are used to expedite drug reviews.[12] The FDA's federal budget request for fiscal year (FY) 2008 (October 2007 through September 2008) totaled $2.1 billion, a $105.8 million increase from what it received for fiscal year 2007.[13]

    Matt,

Getting into a discussion on the politics of the pharmaceutical industry, the cancer industry, FDA regulations, energy and agricultural subsidies can get deep, long and tedious and I've seen many posts on this site get off track with accusations and hurt feelings. I'm very interested and pretty well read on these issues and a lot more, but for the sake of this site, I'd rather talk about guitar

I agree, it does seem unreal, but you don't have to look very hard or read very much to see the effects of corporate influence on the health of our citizens, for one thing.

You can watch these movies as a brief intro into the world of influence that exists beyond the view presented by mainstream media. All is not as it seems, but when has it ever been?

    Free Viewing of Bought

THRIVE Movie ? An unconventional documentary that lifts the veil on what's REALLY going on in our world by following the money upstream -- uncovering the global consolidation of power in nearly every aspect of our lives | Thrive

Cut Poison Burn | In the war on cancer, the disease is only half the battle

King Corn | The Peabody-winning documentary from Mosaic Films Incorporated

Food, Inc. | Behind the Veil of Corporate Farming | TakePart

And on and on. Take everything with a grain of salt, but follow the money and it all starts to make sense.

    Good luck:-)

Yea, it's a no brainer as an anti inflammatory. From the same country, ayur vedic lore suggests Gotu Kola as an enhancer of hemispheric coherence. It is claimed that yogis used it for this purpose. But there are probably other purposes of which I am unaware. To me hemispheric coherence says right and left hand coherence. So I was taking lots of the GK when first getting into guitar and learning scales. My sixteenth notes got sloppy around 161 bpm. This was only with the muscle memory aided practice. I could not take some new scale and do it right away. YMMV. But I felt like it was doing something. Dumbo's Feather Maybe!! who knows. I soon got interested in better note choices and haven't been back but still take a little every day. It's dirt cheap from Swanson Vitamine company

I get organic turmeric by the pound for around 10 bux u.s. It is not well absorbed by humans and needs to be accompanied with bromelaine , a digestive enzyme present in pinapple and ginger . Go easy with the ginger initially. When I heard of it's anti inflammatory properties I'd been taking two or three 00 caps a day because it is also touted to be very good for the digestion. I had Dr. diagnosed rotater cuff degeneration, only mode of treatment was surgery. I began taking six 00 caps with each meal.

The reason I saw a Dr. was intense pain in both shoulders like 8 or better on the ouch scale. I could not clasp my hands behind my head or extend my arms straight out in front of my like to reach into the fridge.... In about ten to 14 days it was gone. Not the junk in my shoulder joint just the inflammation. That was maybe three years ago. I have since lowered the dosage some and gotten sloppy about taking it once in a while. If I notice discomfort I take more for a while. My shoulder joints still feel sloppy and I am careful about what I do with them but there is no pain. Ayur Vedic medicine is based on the priciple that just because something works for me it does not mean it will work for someone else of a different body type. Vata, Pita, Kapha the spelling on the last one could be wrong it's been a long time. Those are the principle attributes that make up body types in their way of looking at things. Every one is a combination of these loosely understood as air, fire, water. Sorry this got long.

There are preperations of turmeric which are said to contain curcuminoids which are the active ingredient or one of them. These are pricey.
