Seems lately I have been playing more, and the pad area of my left thumb goes numb. I have notice it a little more the last year. It does not hurt at all, and I can keep playing but wonder if anyone else has this issue or had? I play right handed to be sure, so it is the fretting thumb but most in the section towards index finger. The outside does not and has nothing to do with strength. I also have Raynard's Syndrome so hands always cold that could be another stressor on it. I hope someone has insight or experience.

Sounds like it could be a nerve problem.I know someone that had the whole top of the thumb go numb but he also had carpal tunnel problems. It's most likely your Raynards causing it.

seeing a doctor would be a good idea. Small adjustments to hand position can help more than changing technique entirely. It reminds me of dealing with appointment scheduling once — minute clinic customer service helped me reschedule quickly when wrist pain started bothering me. Health stuff always shows up when practice time increases. Stretching between sessions helps more than expected
