Hey fellas, I was updating my bio on insta, tiktok and shit and I dont know which one is more appropiate for me, guitar freak or nerd? I dont make any money playing guitar, I just practice, compose and record shit as natural Anxiolytic.

Which one you think is the one? English is not my first language

Maybe guitar nerd? 'Freak' sounds a bit stronger in almost a negative kind of way. Depends if that's what you want...

To me nerd sounds more negative than freak. I see 'freak' it gets my attention, i see 'nerd' I look elsewhere. But maybe it's just me.

    Nerd.

Freak would work if u shred or djent or any variety of metal and u play pointy Ibanez guits w 7 or 8 strings.

Since the pics show acoustics and/or classicals, nerd suits you much better.

I don't like enthusiast because while it implies a passion for something, it can also mean a hobby rather than a profession. Think amateur vs professional, not that it's something wrong w being an amateur mind you!

Yeah I think nerd sounds more serious like I enjoy studying and practicing shit but this is not my job.

I say freak. There’s this episode of Columbo where he walks into a jazz club and a band is playing to nobody. He talks to the horn player who says something like “why are you here, I can tell you aren’t a real jazz freak”

I think it's changed a bit over the years. Blame Diddy.

    Dude, real talk here.

The world is full of miserable losers who never tried and they want to steal your joy so you’ll also be sad.

It’s important to learn this phrase “shut the fuck up” and use it generously with miserable losers who try to put you down.

You’re too talented to let some schmuck put you down.

Yes, I always thought the name was wrong, the correct name for it is: "anti-social" media.

    Cointoss FTW!

Reminds me of a conversation I had with a fellow musician ~20-something years ago, where I commented that we (the collective "we" meaning all musicians) were all dweebs or geeks.

He was astonished that I could use those two terms interchangeably. To him, there was zero overlap between "dweebs" and "geeks" and one of them carried immense negative connotation, whereas the other could be worn as a (sort of) badge-of-honor

...but I forget which was which.
