As a teenager I wanted to be on that stage! Gibsons, walls of speakers, loads of 100w heads, Hammonds, Leslies, raw powerful rock. I'd just got my first Gibson - an L6S custom and had a Simms-Watts 100w full stack.

100 watts is about right. You can really move some serious air with 100 watts.

I love Boston. Such a great band.

Listen to Rick Beato’s “What Makes This Song Great” for that Boston song. Brad Delp’s vocals are out of this world amazing. Beato isolates them. Sad ending for Delp, but he could put anyone that was much more commercially successful to shame, IMHO.

I watch that series. Fascinating stuff.

Who didn’t want to be part of Boston? They were the signature sound of the latter ‘70’s.
Tom Scholz WAS Boston, the rest were just hired hands. (Kind of like Todd Rundgren.) His background as an engineer and inventor helped innovate the guitar sound in rock music. After Boston, EVERY group went for that highly compressed, overdriven, sustained sound. Look at Journey, Santana, all the hair metal bands…the list goes on and on.
However…Scholz’s genius was also his downfall. His perfectionism and insistence on recording in his home studio brought him in conflict with the record label. They agreed to record 10 albums in 6 years…but only produced 2 in that time. They also had a feud with their manager.
The resultant lawsuits and management conflict decimated the band. Plus, while they were the epitome of the late ‘70’s sound, by the early 70’s New Wave bands were becoming ascendant. There was little room for 8 minute rock epics on the radio. Bands like Boston were dinosaurs, whether they knew it or not.
Anyway, they were great for their time. Their guitar and vocal sound was never equaled in the rock realm.

MXR makes a X-100 pedal if you want to relive your Rockman days, btw. I know I had one in the early ‘80s.

I love it! Traveling is my passion and I am always excited about the next journey. Flying with Tap Air Portugal tap-air-portugal.pissedconsumer.com/customer-service.html last fall was a pleasant surprise. Their staff was courteous, the food was decent, and the flight arrived on time. I even got to enjoy a free stopover in Lisbon thanks to their extended layover program, which made the trip even more memorable.
