This popped up on my FB feed, and having clicked on it a couple of times to get info, FB is becoming relentless in trying to get me to get out the credit card.
It’s little pricey (nearly $200 CDN) and it covers some ground that I’m already familiar with.
And I’ve got the David Baker books,Charlie Parker for guitar, an Open Studio publication and a healthy number of Fundamental Changes books.
I don’t know if another book/course is likely to be helpful at this stage.
But I have to admit they’re wearing me down.

Not sure you’d be getting information you don’t have already in those other books. I know, for example, that he’s a big bebop scale guy. So that’s already in those David Baker books.
Helps to see things organized differently though.
Your call. I’m a chronic book collector so no shame.

$300 bucks. Dang. I'd rather take 2 or 3 lessons from him.
Depends where you're at I guess
-
True and he posts from time to time with openings for lessons

About $200 CDN though.
He makes it look and sound so easy in the video.

It’s $149 when I clicked on it.
I’ve spent that much on less useful things.
-
A fair point. Comparable to the Barry Harris DVDs at that price.

It is possible to download 26 mp3 files with everything written in the book. You can also download 12 Rhythm Changes backing tracks in different keys.
Cecil Alexander is a great Jazz guitarist and as soon as I have time I will start studying his book.

“Before each line there is no explanation with text.”
Is this what you meant to say?

He knows the notes but i don’t like his fast picking every note style like a shredder, he doesn’t slur and swing. I think working your own fingerings with David Bakers original material would be just as good.
I’ve liked Steve Neffs PDF books, he has a few on bebop scale patterns including “resolution links” to work them into chord changes.

Sorry. As you can understand my English knowledge is very basic. I say that in the "Rhythm Changes Workbook" there are only many single notes phrases (on staff and tablature).

I love his feel personally. I kind of flip flop btw loving more slury stuff and more picked TBH. And Cecil plays with a fair bit of slurs, too.

But I am always a little suspicious of books that consist just of etudes. Especially nowadays. They could certainly be really well thought out etudes, but they could also just be solos transcribed with software and put up as etudes. It would be a pretty low effort way to generate content. No idea if that's what these would be, and honestly a book of Cecil transcriptions with no explanations would still be great, but I'm a little skeptical of some of these publishers that churn out books of etudes.

Oh, don't get me wrong - I love his playing too. But I've not been particularly enamoured with his youtube lessons (bit too advert heavy for me). And if I had to choose to devote my time between learning Cecil transcriptions versus Charlie Parker transcriptions, well, there's no contest.

He's been selling stuff for a while on the same site as Chad LB.
