The R word, in this case.

I don't really care who you feel you need to "put in their place," you can think of another way or my opinion of you will reflect your lack of imagination (and compassion, basic human decency, etc).

Jazzer EU, ultimately I think you have to free yourself from associating playing guitar with the bad experiences you've had with colleagues as a music student first and then pro musician (especially on the business/competitive side of things) and play for the enjoyment of it only. At the same time I do understand that there's no point in playing if you just don't feel like it, and taking a break often brings new stimulus later on.

In my experience "fun" (or perhaps I should say "motivation") becomes more "available" when I'm eager to learn/achieve something new, musically, on the instrument. You seem to me a very accomplished, eccellent guitarist (I've heard you play when you've posted some performances of yours on the forum and I've checked out your channel on You Tube some time ago), definitely top notch (in my book)! You're very strong especially on comping and playing chordmelody and you know, as you've said, hundreds of tunes. My guess is that your boredom with playing guitar, at this point, might stem from a feeling of not having much more to learn (or that you feel you need to learn)?

In any case... I'm sure the day you'll feel like picking up the guitar again and (especially!) find good musicians to play with, who are also decent, mature human beings (and it does happen, believe me!) ... then fun will be no problem, especially at your level of musicianship!
    Very best wishes!
