I adapted his system so that I could survive comping at jams lol.

This adaptation is practical, fast & easy to implement (for me).

It helps me not clash with the rest of the rhythm section and soloists.

Some contrary motion moves are too difficult/stretchy to perform strictly on the D and G strings. In these instances, use the D and B strings.

Any chance of a video comping on a tune?

Ive been trying to do this stuff but with a top note on the chord and just the guide tones for the diminished chords. It’s happening but slowly … would like to hear how you’re making it work with just the two notes all the way through

    Fifths? You peasant.

Actually its interesting to me and no doubt no one else that the BH scale of chords kind of fixes parallelism.

Deliberately over-comping to illustrate creating tiny movements on 2 strings on the guitar.

Hi guys, I've re-uploaded the example video with slightly better/louder audio.

Do let me know what you think about this 'style'.

I'm a fan of 2 note chords on BH. I use 3rds when I want to play 8th notes without screwing up.

Yeah, I'm starting to realise how practical thirds are. I kinda use them but only travel short distances e.g. C&E, then D&F, then E&G

Sixths and (especially) tenths are very useful as well.

Great, another thing I should spend time on…

    This sounds really cool.

I think they sound super cool. The fifths are super useful because they line up with those she’ll voicings, but I haven’t really played much (at all) with those little contrary motion cells. Those sounded great.

I love sixths so so much. I particular love the sound of the 3rd of the chord in the D string and the root of the chord in the G string.. it's so simple and effective to convey the harmony in an unfussy way.

    Thanks.

And yeah! It does take a bit of time to learn these small little moves.

    Thanks.

Those contrary motion bits, I only do them when the tempo/harmonic rhythm allows me to. Otherwise it's mostly parallel motion.
