I am looking for a classical guitar book of duets, where one player can be intermediate to advanced, and the other player a beginner. Anyone know of anything like that out there?

My favourite beginners book is Frederick Noad’s Solo Guitar Volume 1, a large part of which is made up of short duets for students and teacher. Indeed I learned from it myself, and went on to using it in my teaching. Recommended.

Thanks Rob, that's just what I'm looking for. My wife is a professional orchestral violinist. She always wanted to play some guitar, so I bought her a 19th century style guitar with a smaller neck (61cm, 47mm) to learn the fingerings and get used to it. Obviously she knows music, nothing to teach there. It's just a matter of physical technique and finger placement. (guitar 4ths vs violin 5ths) The book is so we have something to play together.

That’s a nice-looking guitar.

Thanks. And the guitar was a bargain, all solid woods, great tone, ~$700.US

Can’t argue with that. Well done.

Amazon.com A chopin duet book (for the 19th century instrument). accompaniment beginner level, the melody is playable for a beginner but fun for an advanced player to play espressively

Thanks! I'm trying to find a sample, I don't see where it says "beginner." Do you have the book?

I accidentally added a solo guitar one from another book, but that is a nice beginner level piece as well

Thanks!
