I noticed something installed in the soundhole of the black guitar John Jorgenson played in one of the "Frank Vignola Django Djam" videos put online this week; could be this system?

Interesting indeed if it manages to avoid sounding boomy and if it can be installed/removed without having to remove the strings. No cables inside the guitar is a definite plus!

I like the usb charging, but I wonder if you can use it while charging(?)

This is my design that I had 3d printed. It holds a conventional condenser microphone.
It fits snug on the soundboard (but essentially floats on it) and the mic is stable (no goose neck 'wobble') but sufficiently far away from the body to have no boom.
An elasticated 'sock' prevents the mic from falling out (not shown).
