One of the more annoying aspects in my personal musical life is that as someone who loves pop music (especially 60's, 70's and 80's) and who loves to perform solo guitar arrangements for many of these tunes, I feel like I often don't get taken seriously as a jazz player while I am equally a lover of bebop. Sometimes I'm like "take this and stick it in your pipe", lol, so here is a solo guitar performance of Tenor Madness, full of bebop lines and chord substitutions. Where do I pick up my jazz certificate?

Jake, I enjoy your videos a lot. Whether it's Pop or jazz. I listen to Jazz, Blues, pop classical. There is something snobbish about being inferior about a style of music. So keep up the good work. Maybe a "Polka" next time ;-)

so I live in the Detroit area like you, Jake. I just figured out a couple weeks ago that you live around here. How is it? I wondered that I’ve never seen you alive? Really weird.

Hi, I have now idea and of course this frustrates me as I have performed well over 10,000 gigs in this area over the past 30+ years. The good news is that I continue to perform 3 nights a week at The Earle Restaurant in Ann Arbor (33 years and going) and elsewhere so please drop by soon! Thanks!

You're a Jazzer whatever you're playing! Jazz is not "what" you play but, rather, "how" you play. Example below:

Damn, man. That is superb. Past that, no more words. I’m gonna make a trip down just to hear you play.

Thanks from up in da Yoop eh!

You are one of the YT channels (Kent Nishimura being the other most prominent one) that makes me want to take my guitars into the backyard, pour kerosene on them, set them ablaze, and deny that I ever had them. You are phenomenal, and IMO can hang with any jazz guitar "purist." F-bomb what other people think.
