Great job! I especially love it when I hear chord melody done without sacrificing the time. Not easy! And, sounded great.

Jake, you're amazingly prolific with these solo guitar arrangements. Does it take you only a dozen minutes or so at this point to arrange a tune, sort of a plug and play process by now?

Yeah, rubato's good for effect in small doses on ballads, but too much rubato can be bad for your health.
    Great job as usual, Jake!

Here's a very interesting and informative Interview with Jake (Jazz Guitar Today.) I especially like the part about his practice regimen or lack of thereof.

Thanks for the kind words! It really depends on the tune. This type of classic AABA tune with a melody that everybody knows and with a straight forward chord progression really takes no time at all, they are great vehicles to work on bebop lines. However, tunes that are more involved will take more time. Earlier this year I did arrangements for Mas Ala by Pat Metheny and Sphere of Innocence by Allan Holdsworth, each took about a day to come up with the basic arrangement of the head BUT another week or two of practicing the flow and most importantly performing them on gigs at least a half dozen times before recording them. Similarly, I have two tunes on tap right now, Tell Me a Bed Time Story by Herbie Hancock and Village of the Sun by Frank Zappa, I expect both will take a while...!

Thank you Jake, I didn't know you had published a book on the subject. I'll have to check it out.

Do you mean in this recording? No amp, just direct into the computer.

I guess I wrongfully assumed you were using an amp. So, when you do, what amp do you use?
