I've had trouble finding a decent lead sheet for this tune. Has anyone got a good one? It would be useful (melody and chords).
-
Never heard of it, but having just listened to it on youtube, it is obviously a contrafact of Out of Nowhere (and in the same key), so for jamming over the chord changes, you can use this:
-
Here’s a sheet which has the concert (C) version on page 4 (i.e. where the tune is in G):

I think I’m going to be naughty and reverse-engineer the contrafact the opposite way (sounds painful...)
-
You've exceeded my expectations. I found two lead sheets online but they don't have double bar lines at the end. Not knowing the tune I couldn't tell how complete they were. So thanks for that.
Nice clip, Graham. Your usual panache!
I've got a file with about 20+ versions of OON (and three lead sheets) from back in August 2020... so what do we do now? OON or Nostalgia*?
* Aptly named
-
I spent about a minute checking out the head, and wasn't really up for concentration and focus, but was in the mood for trying to break out of some of my usual boxes on OONw, so here we go. This is Mr. Sunny Bass with a drum loop I have in my toolbox. My semi is in the shop for a refret, so the strat is getting a little more action than usual (and is better for late night playing).
-
Nice, John. I think the slower vibe works better than a cheery swing given it's called Nostalgia, but what do I know...
But anyway here's one, just done it now. This is sort of medium thumpy. I have to say these changes really are a delight to solo with. Just flows along...
-
I haven't played OON for a while, and I love it - so I chose it over Nostalgia (which I'd never heard before) for a fingerstyle run-through this afternoon.
-
I like this progression so much I've done another one. This one sounds a bit different.
-
As long as we're doing OON contracfacts, there is one that's somewhat better known than Nostalgia ...
[It's a dirty job, but somebody's gotta do it]
-
Well, this tune seems to be forgotten. Maybe it's the war but we can't get over-obsessed with that, obscene though it is.
Here's a version which has Nigel Price on it. Quite good.
-
I’m still here. Distracted, but not totally down and out. Will get a take recorded before next tune is announced.
