Don't know about this exercise, but I have been trying to put various poly-rhythms together in a unitary way, quarter note triplets (2 v 3) and half note triplets (3 v4), as well as dotted quarter v. quarter.

I tried to see how it worked last night, playing at a private dinner party.

Didn't really pull it off. Back to the shed.

Adding 5 v 4 to 2 v 3, 3 v 4 and quarter v dotted quarter, and being able to mix and match these at will, will sound pretty good.

But it's a really daunting thing to work out and internalize. At least for me.

Wow, that really swings. I'm just sitting here saying it in my head and can hear the drums behind it.

What would you do for the rhythm in "The Eleven" by the Grateful Dead?
