Has anyone actually heard this tune? Seems to me everyone's answering it theoretically rather than actually.

This is a novelty tune, not some deep jazz ballad or something. It's a Swedish kids' song about sausages! The bit with the bass run-down is just part of the whole jaunty nature of the tune. So play it in the same style and land robustly on that A7! No problem really.

Hey, I told OP which massively popular tune done by thousands of artists starts with his trouble spot. If they want to play jazz, that's the final answer of how to navigate that section. Learn some licks and play with them.

Scales and theory alone won't make someone sound like jazz.
