Been spending some time with Billie’s Bounce this week.

Working on building lines more from triads and keeping things as musical as possible — with a nice balance between soulful bluesy vocabulary, short lyrical phrases, and longer flowing bebop lines.

Here's one quick chorus playing over The Feel Book:

Listening back over it, it doesn't sound like I was using anything outside my melodic triads approach.

    Mostly hearing:

    • Triads with a single tension note added for movement and phrasing
    • Chromaticism and leading tones connecting notes from the triads
    • Some of those shapes expanding into arpeggio-like lines
    • And occasionally stacking multiple triads to play through chords that aren't really there and sound a bit more "out"

Choosing my triads mostly based on what I hear Bird using in his Billie's Bounce melody.

Despite having been primarily triad-based for over a decade now...
I still find myself constantly exploring, discovering, and refining. I just can't seem to find the bottom of this rabbit hole haha
And they're so fun... I hope I never do lol

    Any other triaders out there?

I'm working on it. Nothing as exhaustive as you, but I do try to put triads together as licks the easiest one to describe is the end of Four I'll do chromatic descending minor triads from Gm to resolve on the 5th of Eb.

    This shape.

    12th fret G string
    11th fret B string
    10th fret E string

I've found through transcribing, what catches my ear is simple stuff placed very well. So I try to do the same.

    Nice. That's a good one.
