Each Place I Go Searching For Freedom

This piece titled "Each Place I Go Searching For Freedom" is our collective meditation on the preciousness of freedom. We performed and composed this music live, real-time, purely improvised without preconception or discussion. This approach, whether in the laboratory of a living room or on a concert stage is how this ensemble works, so saying that this piece is about something like freedom, or anything for that matter is a bit of post-production intellectualizing. Still, this music plainly shows the workings of how individual freedoms operate within a collective of other individuals who are each enjoying and exploring their own freedoms. Collaboration is our model for the ideal society. We take turns leading and following, responding or provoking as we can, always asserting individuality at the same time supporting the success of others. As the great 19th century poet Emma Lazarus once said, "Until we are all free, we are none of us free”.
