thanks wolfen,I’m a devout atheist seriously though, no. I was into TM for a few years back in the ‘80’s and enjoyed reading some books by Jiddu Krishnamurti when I was an impressionable youth. Nowadays, the guitar givens me all the higher mind connection I need.

Sublime, Marc. Really beautiful. This is how I'd like to play. I also like the big, bold geopolitical statement in the title too!

"Gulf of Mexico", music inspired by the great body of water that has carried that name for nearly 500 years. Of course, the basin has been around for about 300 million years according to science. A timely reminder that this too shall pass.

someone else recently commented on hearing “Bachisms” in this and other pieces I’ve done and makes me wonder where that comes from. I mean, I have zero classical repertoire and absolutely no study invested in the idiom. I love the sounds of most of the classical music I hear, but I’m not much of a listener. It’s weird to me that any of that vocabulary even comes out in my playing unless it’s second hand from the jazz I’ve listened too, but then I can’t really pick a directly association or lineage. It’s really a mystery to me. Maybe from a past life?

I like your playing and listent when you upload here (thoough I do not comment mostly) I do see anything that would be associated with Bach (and I know Bach's music quite well, I play or listen to it it almost daily for many years...).. except more or less connection through functional harmony but this way I can connect you almost to anyone.
Otherwise it is totally different thinking/form/idioms - everything...

Thank you! Given your familiarity with Bach, it seems as those making the connection aren’t sufficiently
discerning? Ima actually relived to hear you say you hear virtually no connection.

Hard to say... sometimes people refer to the elements. Take a small element and compare... maybe it is this approach.
Everyone in jazz compares Bird's lines and Bach's lines (the way the harmony is outlined with melodic line)... and indeed they are quite similar and have the same origin but.. in all integrity of their music this similarity does not make much sense to me. The essential things are very different.

Bravo, really beautiful! It's like being cradled under a beautiful and changeable sky.
Yes, I also thought, in some passages, of Bach (and of the pre-romantic music linked to popular musical traditions) but more as free suggestions than as adherence to a style.
The intense execution is also beautiful. Congratulations!

I gave it a thumbs up before listening, for the title alone. If there were additional thumbs for tone, content, and execution ...
