A final one and then I'm outta this thread:

    - when you realise you have to give up on your principle of "talking English with your computers" if you want to avoid forums that are not being monopolised by certain classes of inhabitants of a certain country that wants to make itself supposedly greater again.

(that was actually more for my former "don't you hate it when" thread but who cares)

Now wait a second! Who was screaming about lefties and poor people, being supported by Affirmative Action, and don’t even mention the Welfare Queens, during the 80’s?

No, what happened was, the righteous right ran on it as a political platform (Reagan) all after America had enslaved blacks for 400 years, and held them back with Jim Crow laws, making it impossible to create generational wealth.

In fact, in America in 1921 or so, in Oklahoma, the wealthiest location of black people was burned down, over 400 family members massacred, all over a lie.

And to top it off, America had zero conscience about those wrongs and provided zero reparations.

But of course the Japanese got reparations for the injustice of encampment during WWll. So it turns out that if you’re Japanese, America has a conscience.

After 400 years of racism and injustices America said crickets to black people….,All after creating insane wealth on the backs of blacks. What built America? Black labor. Slave labor.

Just calling a spade a spade. These are the facts about America.

You weren't a slave, you didn't get stuck sharecropping, and you didn't live through JIm Crow. If you haven't reached the level of success you wanted then look in the mirror and see the person who put all those stones in your pathway. Excuses always sound the best to the person making them.

Well now that you have come around to my way of thinking on this issue, the next move is to have you come around to my way of thinking on the politics. (That was a joke, I for one, am glad that people have different viewpoints).

And to think that this thread started long ago by my pal Archtop Eddie regarding the placement of the on/off switch on modern amps. Now that is something to be peeved about!

What other excuses do you have to justify your bitterness besides a history you never lived? Verbalize to me how talking about it can bring about positive change, and tell me how you constantly talking about it here and elsewhere has brought positive change, if any, to your life, and describe what those changes were.

    Your hypocrisy is very revealing.

First you categorize so called leftists for having envy of the wealthy, and what they themselves have not earned.

And I point out how the same wealthy people on the right ran an entire platform against the poor, all the while a large majority of the same wealthy have benefited from generational wealth borne from the backs of blacks, yet you don’t understand how hypocritical that is.

It’s your world bruh. And I’m done living in it.

If you had provided a little more reasonable criticism, like the one above, instead of just partaking in the envy/jealousy hate bashing of Trump and Musk while arrogantly telling me how much better you would've done with the inherited 400 mil I would've taken you more seriously. When that didn't work you played the race card, woe is me. Sorry, you aren't oppressed bro. When that didn't work you said you were out. Then you came back.

I don't care for Trump, he's a lifer NYC democrat turned phony conservative and a friend of the Clintons and Epstein. And I've thought Musk was a shyster even back when he was a hero to all tech head greenies but they don't live in my head. Neither do other people who inherited more than me. You and several others are coming off as bitter, jealous guys when in reality you're using your excess idle time to project your distraught political negativity and jealousies for what you don't have here onto the forum. And now you are out, twice, cause not everyone glad hands you for it. Ok man.

Listen, one can point out hypocrisy without being envious of anyone.

And it’s my prerogative whether or not to return to comment on what I believe are nothing more but judgments and assumptions made by you about others comments.

One can disagree with you without you labeling them as envious.

Not everyone is envious of anyone, least of all me. I’ve had a good life and have no regrets.

Yet it’s been my observations throughout my lifetime that America as a society is unjust. Which I find very odd and puzzling since everyone had forefathers that arrived here as immigrants.

Then why didn't you disagree with me without calling me hypocritical? Or is it because you can see hypocrisy in me but not jealousy in yourself, or are only you allowed to associate people with negative behaviors? Or is it just "I'm right, you're wrong"? You and others were coming across as pretty jealous sounding of people with inherited cash. Maybe it wasn't intended but that's how it read to me. There was another thread recently that read the same way with some of the same people saying the same jealous sounding stuff. Those who you are criticizing over inherited wealth could easily look at you and be envious of a gift you were the recipient of that they were not. Maybe you aren't seeing that, I dunno.

All societies, life actually, is unjust in some way or another. I have stated many times there is no such thing as "fair". All anyone can do is the best they can with what they have in their day. I'm not gonna sit around and relive stuff from before our time with you. We weren't there. I'm gonna drink some coffee and go play my guitar. Be well and I'll catch up here later if the thread still exists.

P.S. - Actually, archtopeddy's comment does make me think of todays politics, specifically the phrases I've italicized.

"One of my pet peeves is a power switch on the back of an amp next to the power cord input. A lot of modern amps have this "feature." Usually, these are in the lower right or left hand corner on the back of the amp.

This forces you to reach both back and down
behind the amp, often blindly feeling about as you turn on and off the amp. Like I said, it's a pet peeve and I can live with it -- it just irks me each time I reach for it."

I'm not bitter or jealous. I'm concerned about the future, but I wouldn't want to be Trump or Elon, if I had to be like any billionaire, I'd want to be a shadow billionaire like the Sacklers at Purdue Pharma. Except for the whole causing a drug epidemic with lies about opioids being non-addictive. The thing is, almost anyone who is a billionaire, got there by doing someone dirty. So, I'd be happy with an honest 500 million.

No, I’m not seeing anything you’re saying, for we’re having two different conversations where inheritance is concerned.

Not everyone has inherited wealth of any kind. Usually working stiffs, aka 9-5er’s. You’re just as broke or bad off as black folks!

But to tell the truth I’ve owned more homes, and guitars, in my lifetime than most. Still, it sure would have been nice to have a home handed down via generational wealth, if only just to own a truly fabulous home, or homes.

It’s the privileged few that have inherited wealth. But there’s also generational wealth. And true, not everyone has benefited from that.

But there’s an obvious fact that there are many in this country who bark about having their inheritance taxed. Well, how the heck are you supposed to run any country without taxes?

It’s known that a great percentage of wealthy in this country don’t pay taxes, and even more pay far less than they should. Another so called pet peeve.

Not all black folks are "bad off" so here we go again with the woe is me stuff.

You inherit wealth and opportunity by growing up in the first world. So you are among the privileged few already. Posting up your wealth and crying about the wrongs from someone else's generation that's not yours isn't believable to me.

Just because someone inherits something doesn't mean it's a "fabulous" home or homes or huge amounts of cash. More wrong ideas.

I was poor before and poor people also don't pay any income taxes. In fact, they receive a refund of all of it, and often more, with things like child-tax credits added to it. Ain't you ever been poor? Never mind the other hand outs for the people on the bottom that become cyclically abused. During the Bush era I saw 10k refunds having a couple kids while staying in those lower income brackets. That's very fair to someone in the bottom of the next bracket up who has to pay in a substantial percentage, isn't it? It paid more to sit on my ass rather than work and jump tax brackets. I guess that's why "fair tax" proposals have been roundly criticized by pretty much everyone.

So back to your talk on fairness. There is no fair. You are angry with the kulaks yet it seems like you are a kulak yourself. Which takes me back to my suggestion that you should look in the mirror for the solutions, instead of raging on the "orangutan" and muskrat.

Another gear peeve, not really a peeve, but more an annoyance. Especially in live performing, guitars with individual pickup vol controls without a master vol.

I don't know that almost all billionaires made their wealth by doing something "dirty" (as the Sacklers did), but I admit that it could be the case. There is no known definitive sources for that claim, and frankly, I have never met a billionaire myself. I have met and known numerous multi-millionaires. Some have been as honest as the day is long and some have been scoundrels. I could say the same about the many poor people I have known.

The notion that the ultra wealthy pay no taxes is a patently false canard spread by the left. Most wealthy people pay more each year in property taxes than most posters on this forum actually earn. The American tax code (written in 1954 BTW) is absurdly complicated and has enough loopholes to allow many wealthy people to pay little or no income tax. That doesn't mean that they are not paying their fair share (unless you believe in the Marxist notion "from each according to their ability, to each according to their needs"). In addition to property taxes, the wealthy pay plenty in death taxes, excise taxes, consumption taxes and business taxes. A flat tax with almost no deductions would be a much simpler and fairer system for all, but there are powerful interests that would fight that. What would the army of accountants, tax lawyers, bookkeepers, IRS agents and the many other useless people in that industry do?

Racial/Gender identity politics and envy will not better anyone's condition nor solve any problems. While we in the west are wringing our hands about stupid stuff, the new axis of authoritarianism (led by Putin and Xi) are licking their chops and planning our demise. There are more important things to be concerned about than other people's money.

I had a Guild Starfire V that had a master volume. Frankly, I never got the hang of using it. IMO, the fewer knobs on the guitar to fool with, the better. The Telecaster has it right, one volume knob, one tone knob and a pickup selector switch.

I don’t know if it has been mentioned but I think the main reason why some amp builders put power switches on the back near the power cord connection is to better limit interference with the sound circuits that have pots, etc. Not an amp builder myself, but I think that I read that is the reason why Henriksen does it. But even then some of their older amps have the power switches near the other controls. So maybe they changed based on the interference issue?

My experience is that guitars with only a neck pickup are good for jazz and guitars with only a bridge pickup are good for rock and blues, but guitars with both a neck and bridge pickup are more versatile. Three pickups are overkill. Once again, IMO, Leo got it right with the Telecaster. For a gigging jazz guitarist, having two pickups is very useful as some rooms are so dark that blending a bit of bridge pickup helps substantially.

I think I like having my volume and tone knobs separated. I am more apt to change my volume settings during a tune than tone, but I have changed my tone settings for different tunes.

I'm waiting on a concentric pot so I can finish wiring a new guitar that only had one volume one tone. I like the 2 vol/2 tone Gibson arrangement as it allows me to get those BB King middle position tones that you can't really approximate well without having a dedicated tone control for the bridge. The only seemingly bad thing I've noticed so far is that the concentric CTS pots seem to have very long turning radius' compared to regular CTS pots. Like it goes from 12 o clock all the way round to 11:59. That's kind of strange but I don't think it will be a problem. Maybe it's a dumb question but was there a learning curve for you using it for live work?
