That's why I have an MXR micro amp at the end of my chain. They can't compete with that.

When people say “that sounds jazzy”

Although it only happened once that I recall (but the sentiment seems somewhat pervasive) I will add that when I told someone that I play guitar they asked what genre? I replied, “Jazz.” They said, “Then how do you know if you are any good.?”

When one drunk at your gig tries to tell you their drunk friend (also there) is an amazing ________ and suggests you let them demonstrate.
I mean the drunk pro musician can't even muster the guts to ask even on the liquid courage so they send their friend up to do it, demonstrating what a train wreck that will become.

My gig, my stage...unless I call YOU.

Lol, you got roasted. I would have said “oh, I’m terrible, but can you believe these guys I get to play with!!”

I've had "singers" approach me countless times. If they or their friends tell me they're the greatest singer in the world I typically ask them to come outside on break and sing a few lines of their best song. Only once was someone qualified and it turned out she was the singer of an armed forces big band.

She is obviously jazz-opposed. Wouldn’t have mattered if I said my dad was Miles Davis.

My monthly gig is a rock/covers bar trying
something new with a jazz night where they used to have open jam sessions. So sometimes a guy wanders in expecting the jam, I’ll let them come up and do Autumn Leaves or Blue Bossa if they know it.
Helps the bar sell a beer, which is why we are there.
The stakes aren’t very high for me, and I know it’s just a gig and if we don’t keep people interested and drinking we will lose it. Year 1 is not the time to be some stuff lipped artist.

You’ve got a good point. Not related to mine, but it is good.

Something like that I suppose. She doesn’t appreciate jazz music, but also wouldn’t know what it is. Nice person, but thick in some ways.
-
I dunno, jazz is only one type of music and everyone has their own taste.
