You know, the whole time I've been thinking this guitar was supposed to be an 18" (oops sorry, a 457.2mm). Am I mistaken?
Is it going to be a 17"?
The reason I mentioned symmetrical, many 18" guitars that I've seen tend to look, well, kind of portly.. Their proportions sometime don't look quite right.
But that really doesn't mean anything if I was mistaken.
In any event, Your guitar has perfect proportions.

I hope to, but money is tight. I don't fly, so would be getting the train, which is a more expensive option. If I don't pick it up, I hope to visit him later in the year, possibly taking the guitar for a few tweaks, should it need any. That might be a better plan in the long run, once I've got to know it a bit. We shall see.

It looks incredible so far. Can't wait to hear it. As a fan of your playing, I hope it inspires you to record a lot of new archtop pieces when it's complete.
-
Oh, I dare say there will be a few
Thanks for the encouragement.

Again as an Elferink Tonemaster owner for over 2 years now, you will be extremely HAPPY!!!!!!!
-
Good to know!
-
Its looking great Rob, and I hope and trust it fulfills your 18" needs.
-
Oh, mama...

"Almost ready to ship". But it will still take a couple of weeks. He's going to try it out with the Philippe Bosset "Soft Brass" strings I sent him, make little adjustments before shipping.
This is not his fully-ornate headstock - we needed to cut costs a little. But the engine of the machine, the soundboard, is high quality, worked on knowing it will be an all-acoustic instrument.
Exciting or what?!

Mother of God....that's beautiful.... =O

OH MY GOD ROB!!!!
One of the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen!
The photography is GREAT too.
You really did it this time Robster. And you are going to absolutely KILL IT on that guitar.
You might have to break out the full color camera for all your videos with this guitar. Black and White images would be a sin with this guitar.
Wow. Just Wow..
Joe D. (can you tell I'm a little impressed..)
-
Haha. My thoughts exactly, no more black and white!
-
Incredible. Very happy for you Rob. Your playing deserves the best. You must be glowing (in black and white, of course).
-
Haha. Cheers, om. Two weeks seems a long time!
-
Oh my good gracious that thing is just amazing!
-
Congrats Rob...I hope that it turns out to be everything that you hoped for and more....
-
If that guitar sounds half as good as it looks, you're in tonal heaven.... I love the more discreet headstock, oozes class. It couldn't be in better hands, look forward to your videos. My commiseration on the long wait...
-
Cheers, lads. I'm scared to touch it...
-
Beautiful! She's a looker. I look forward to hearing how she sounds.
-
I'm very much looking forward to your upcoming NGD and the videos to follow! Do try to get some rest in the interim. I know I would be sleepless with anticipation!
-
Beautiful!
Congrats! Frans is an outstanding luthier, and paitent with clients like me. My waiting was worth the effort, two years ago. Every day I'm thankful on choice of the guitar. I really enjoy with my Tonemaster.
-

I have the Phillipe Bosset soft brass strings on my non cutaway 51" Gibson Super 300 18" bout acoustic they sound fantastic .
