Is the 'second knob' 3kHz or 300Hz ?

I had such a positive experience with Peter Henriksen today that I wanted to share it with anyone who will listen.

I received my 112 ER on Tuesday and could not have been happier with it. Unfortunately it went dead when I went to turn it on yesterday. Rather than call Full Compass for an exchange, I decided to call Henriksen to see if there was some kind of simple fix to the problem. I have had this happen before after receiving a new amp and figured that it must be a blown fuse somewhere or something that was jarred during shipping. It honestly could have happened to any amp and I file it under s**t happens.

After determining that it wasn't a blown fuse, Peter tells me that he is going to ship me a new one and to just put the old one in the box and send it to him. There was no "please take out the chassis and do XYZ first". Also mind you that this amp was purchased through a dealer and was older stock from 2013. Of course I was very appreciative of this because I was going to have my replacement amp on Monday. To make it even better, I leaned that the one he is going to send me has some cosmetic and sonic upgrades that have not yet been officially announced. He felt that I would be able to hear them right away.

I asked Peter if he would like to take my credit card info for the new amp until he receives the old one. Peter tells me "oh no, I don't need a card. Jazz guys are honest". This part really just blew me away. A couple of hours later I receive an email with my UPS tracking number.

I am absolutely stoked to own such an incredible amp that is backed by a 100% commitment to customer service. Hell, I would have been stoked to own this amp if the service was mediocre at best.

If anyone is on the fence, just buy one.

I have an old 110 that I bought used some years back, and it got knocked over by a drunken patron at a club and stopped working. I called Peter Henriksen, he told me to ship it out to him, which I did. He not only fixed it (it turned out to be a relatively minor issue), but upped the wattage and added reverb and did it all for a very, very reasonable price and quite quickly. A great guy.

that was my experience too. I called about a year ago with a few questions about tweety production--ended up talking to Peter for a good half hour.

I'll join in. I've had nothing short of great customer service from Henricksen over the years. I've had a number of long and very informative conversations with both Peter and the late Bud Henricksen.

I have one one of the Jazz Amp 10 Convertible models and when I called to talk about the popping noises I would sometimes get when turning off the amp, Peter immediately sent me a new 'upgraded' on-off switch that eliminated the problem - no charge!

Admittedly, I didn't quite grasp what he was describing (or at least well enough to describe it here). I'll wait until I receive mine and then ask him to detail the new features.

I welcome your opinion on the Evans Amps ?
The only problem here in the UK is the prohibitive cost and non availability of them.
for an example the Henriksen ,although available ,costs in excess of £900 ( approx 1400 usd )
The Evans amps are only obtainable by direct import and are considerably more expensive.

I'm also an Evans fan. I've tried or owned a number of the "usual suspects" and imo Evans excels in sound, build quality, aesthetics and support. Also super quiet - ie very little hiss and hum at low volumes. You get what you pay for ...

I just got a H112ER and love it. The tweeter definitely adds to the transparency, interesting sparkle, not only for flattops.

For the poster who asked, I also am a fan of Evans Amps. A player seeking a high-quality, "grab-n-go", solid state amp, with powerful tone shaping controls, a clear but warm sound with a descent reverb and adequate headroom to play out with should consider the Evans RE200.

    Hi, iim7V71M7 etc.,
I just viewed the Evans website and the RE200 does not appear, it looks
as if it may have been superseded by the RE300 & SE300. , not being
    pedantic, just for info.
I am quite happy with my AH200 especially thru" a Stealth RE 12ER. it
works very well with any of my instruments which range from an LP etc
up to an L5CES & Guild Benedetto. The small combo AE100 ,sadly now
out of production, has an unbelievable output nominally 100w but sounds
nearer to 150w. and worth it's weight in Gold.
Should I need to replace an Amp at any time , the Evans would be first call.
provided that funds permit. ( Drat those import duties ,and V.A.T. etc.,)
Having said that I would not knock the Henriksen or the Mambo either.
    I am spoilt for choice.

Sure, I am sure Scot continues to upgrade his amp line-up. It looks like it is 100w more powerful and 4 lb. heavier (31 lb. vs. 27 lb.). Fortunately, my 200w amp is plenty loud for my playing needs. I hear from many folks that Mambo makes a great amp as well and fortunately for you, it is made in the UK. Today, between AI, Evans, Henriksen, Jazzkat, Mambo and Quilter there many good sounding, lightweight, reliable amps to choose from.

Have an Evans hybrid and a Henriksen 112-ER (as well as tube amps) and the H is head and shoulders above the rest with my archtops.

+1 to that, I recognised a few years ago when my neighbour came to my assistance
whilst trying to load my Fender Tube Amp into the boot (trunk) of the car, that it was
time to use lightweight amps. I have learned much from this Forum in that respect.\
Todays excellent SS amps are eminently suitable for our styles of music, It would be
difficult to imagine a head lighter than an AI or an Evans AH200 with all of the
facilities they have. I quite agree with your views on the RE200 ( now RE300 ) which
to me, seems the perfect gigging combo.

    best regards
    Alan

By H do you mean Hybrid or Henriksen?

    Thanks,
