Inspired by Steve to create a thread about the Trenier guitar build I have ordered and expect to receive this week.
5 years ago I reached out to Bryant about a build. I was very interested in his New Yorker models and wanted to order one, then I saw the post in Jan 2020 of the first Continental and knew that was the way I wanted to go. In his words, “the Continental model is his addition to the New Yorker legacy”.
I’ve included pictures of the first 3 completed Continental (taken from his IG) and then build progress details of mine.
Final thing to add: Bryant had been wonderful to work with. He is responsible, patient, and willing to share insights into his process. I hope to one day meet him in person.
Continental 1 - Jan 2020

Continental 4 - October 2024, SN 185 fitted with a early 60s D’Armond Rhythm Chief 1100

Guitar received! More details to come with comments, sound samples, etc. the archtop family is growing (sitting next to a 60's Koontz, 1959 Excel, and 1978 Koontz 7 string).

This may be just me but seeing your photos after Trenier's own it's like you got a different, much better looking instrument. If the instrument indeed looks more like your photos as posted IRL, Trenier isn't doing himself any favours with the colour shift in his photos if you ask me!

I agree - it is a stunning instrument, much more dynamic in person then I was expecting. It truly looks like the D'Aquisto NYers of the 80s with the shading and proportions.

Some dyes are just hard to capture on photo, esp. under artificial lights (I had a luthier-built violin like that - the expert at the auction house that sold it for me said it was a beautiful finish but I thought it looked seasickly greenish under the wrong light ... fortunately that's not the case here! "Not very dynamic" would indeed be a way to describe how Trenier's instruments tend to look in his own photos (I wonder if anyone ever reflected on this to him!)

Sound sample - just recorded on iPhone. Not sure it the tone really comes through, but the sustain and quality of tone are remarkable.
I’m loving time with this instrument. The neck is very comfortable - classical feeling with good string spacing and heft to it.
This is a tune by Perry Beekman called, Lullaby For Jean. He recently posted this and I learned it from that.

Thank you for the very kind comments. I want to get a better recording device (perhaps AUDIGO for something simple) and fix my unfinished-basement backdrop.
