Assuming the top hadn't sunk, and was stable, won't the playability always be dependent on this neck joint dimension and any ' extra ' material that may not have been needed ?
Yes, I have a feeling some shaving of the raised part of the finger board would be necessary, as well as reducing the bend in the neck between the nut and heel. The bridge could easily be lowered and still maintain a good break angle.
