I think I already know what you folks are gonna say, sort of silly to entertain the idea of buying one of these but... do you suppose the construction could be fairly decent or would you expect a laminated piece of junk that could not be rehabilitated?

They admit it's a copy of the model without literally saying so, when they use terms like OEM, but the problem there is that, as far as I know, Sadowsky never had their guitars manufactured in China. Plus their specs page is a joke which tells you nothing at all: "Body Material: oem, Back/Side Material: oem, Fingerboard Material: oem, Origin: Mainland China."

I saw an older thread in this forum where a guy said he had bought a couple of these Chinese copy-cat guitars and found their construction was good but the electronics and possibly finish-work were mediocre, which he had expected. But after correcting those issues, he had a guitar close to the real thing at a fraction of the cost (including the cost of the upgrades). But I understand that it's a crap shoot to buy one of these things.
Has anyone here bought anything of any value on Ali Express?

No stinking way!

Some Chinese, if not all, on Youtube are convincing.
An example

They claim accuracy is -/+ 1-2cm. To put it in context, that’s the difference between a Sadowski or a Hofner Vice President turning up.

Yes i have, small stuff and it was real and legit, just never bought anything like a guitar from there.

Might even be the same dealer, most of them appear to be on eBay too. Buyer protection with PayPal is much stronger there though if you're so (in)disposed.

There are Sadowsky Jim Hall guitars on the same page going for over TEN TIMES that amount!

The headstock shape and logo are the two things that are easiest for an independent luthier to protect as intellectual property.

Shows what looks to be an authentic Sadowsky serial number on the back of the headstock (I have one).... thus, I think the photo is of a legit Jim Hall, which means the real guitar they are offering is NOT being represented here. Good luck.
-
Did anyone buy one? How rough is it?
-
Well they pulled that fast from ebay.
-
You've not really looked enough.

Down to $400. Doesn’t appear like a real Sadowsky.

Well, you go there and let us know what we missed. I'll save my shekels for the real deal or look to Japan.

When something seems too good to be true, it almost always is untrue.
I would not take the risk. But fortune sometimes favors those who take risks. Good luck to whomever here buys one of these.
