The prices of these guitars will go up now thanks to Trump's new import policy re: Chinese goods which, in addition to a 10% tariff increase, closes the "de minimis" exemption that allowed packages valued under $800 to be processed without paying any customs duties or tariffs. That is, in addition to the tariff charge, a custom fee may be imposed.
Thing is, the postal service does not have the necessary manpower to enforce this policy and his Postmaster, Louis Dejoy, has been working to downsize it, so it will be yet another of Trump's ill conceived and counterproductive executive orders.

I wouldn't beat up on China too bad, Ibanez has contracts with them to build guitars, the Ibanez Pat Metheny PM2 was built in China, and so are many other models; furthermore, Stanford guitars out of Germany has contracts with China to build their guitars. I don't know of any 2 countries more picky than Japan and Germany when it comes to craftsmanship and quality....

I’m good. I’ve already got enough guitars. But if I was in the market I’d take a chance. We’re talking $400? Seriously. Many here spend $10k on a guitar and don’t even think about it.

There has also been issues in Japan with quality recently. A lot of the older workers are retiring, the workforce is shrinking and QC is going down in some areas.
Keeping up with demand and finding people to make the product, can be the biggest issue regarding QC.
